Who We Are
The South Pond Group is a voluntary community group committed to the care and improvement of South Pond and Jubilee Path, in Midhurst, West Sussex by working with the land owners Chichester District Council, Midhurst Town Council, South Downs National Park and the local community.
We see South Pond and Jubilee Stream as part of a thriving wildlife corridor that supports a healthy and varied range of plant and animal life, making the whole area an attractive and interesting place to visit and enjoy, and a source of pride for the people of Midhurst.
We see South Pond playing a larger role in bringing visitors to Midhurst, and contributing to the overall regeneration of the town.
The group together with CDC prepare a 5 year management plan which sets out how we will achieve this vision.
The priority is to continue to improve the water quality and the natural habitat by addressing the pollution problem, removing unwanted weeds, and caring for the reed beds, planted areas around the pond and support CDC with the care of the wild flowers on the Grange Bank.
By holding Open Day Events showing the fauna and flora to be seen around the pond. Bat, bird and moth identification events and encouraging local school trips to the pond to learn about the creatures to be found in and around the pond.
